The Rollei F:X Pro Hard GND 8 (3 stops/0.9) is a gray gradient filter. The abbreviation GND stands for graduated neutral density, which means a gray filter with a transition from tint to transparency. With gradient filters, the coating runs out to one side. The word 'Hard' means that the filter has a very hard transition from the dark to the transparent area.

The hard GND can be used for these motifs:

  • Shooting by the sea
  • Sunset or sunrise with a clear horizon line
  • Subjects with a clear horizon line and a large imbalance in brightness

GNDs are used (unlike normal ND filters) for motifs in which the brightness conditions have a certain progression and therefore require different exposures for an evenly exposed image. A classic application of a hard GND is, for example, a sunset on the beach, where the foreground does not have to be darkened at all, but the background is still very bright due to the sun and therefore has to be darkened. The hard GND compensates for such scenarios.

Our Hard GND 8 comes in sizes of 100 and 150 millimeters and has a density of 0.9 and 3 stops. A stop means that the amount of light falling on the sensor is reduced by one f-stop.

Exemplary color fidelity with an extremely fine coating

We have provided our GNDs with our Luminance Coating, which ensures that the filters are 99.5 percent non-reflective. This guarantees you razor-sharp images - even with "high-end" cameras with 150 MP. The color fidelity is exemplary, which means you can capture your subjects exactly as the human eye sees them.

Our filters are made of Gorilla® glass. This makes it extremely resistant and at the same time offers high color neutrality and light transmission. With our anti-scratch layer, the glass gets the final hardness against mechanical impacts. In this way, sludge and dirt from grease or water can be removed quickly and effortlessly.

But our filters are not only protected against mechanical influences. We have tested and proven this in both heat and extreme cold. Our filters can only comply with all of this because our quality process works according to the AQL principle "Acceptance Quality Limit". This means that if a certain number of samples from a production lot does not meet the quality criteria, the total size of the lot will not be accepted.

After delivery, this process is repeated so you can be sure that your valuable Rollei filters are always of the highest quality.
